Physicians’ Alerts

Physicians’ Alerts are developed to help ensure that all construction workers at risk of developing work-related medical conditions are properly diagnosed and treated. The Alerts contain valuable information for the worker and their physician related to common exposures and tasks in construction, and include best practices to prevent and mitigate exposure-related conditions.

IMPACT Cards

IMPACT cards detail CPWR research projects and the impact they are having on workers’, contractors’, and other stakeholders’ awareness of hazards, and industry’s use of interventions to reduce illness and injuries on construction jobsites.

IMPACT cards are available as a downloadable PDF or an 8×5 tri-fold card (by request). Below are a few of our most recent cards:

Controlling Exposure to Spray Polyurethane Foam in a Healthcare Setting

A partnership between a contractor and research team demonstrates that you can successfully control exposure to hazardous chemicals during installation of spray polyurethane foam in a complex setting (healthcare facility).

Leadership Skills to create a strong jobsite safety climate

An elective of the OSHA 30-hour course, this program focuses on the costs of poor leadership, benefits of good leadership, and the five leadership skills needed to be an effective safety leader.

CPWR COVID-19 Construction Clearinghouse

A new CPWR COVID-19 Construction Clearinghouse has been established to give our industry easier access to reliable, current information. This free, online resource highlights resources on crucial topics such as Guidance on Workplace Practices, State and Local Requirements, Training Resources, and many others.
If you know of materials that should be considered for the Clearinghouse, particularly innovative practices and equipment being used on job sites to prevent the spread of COVID-19, email us at covid19@cpwr.com. Our staff will follow up to learn more.

Hazard Resource Page Example: Mental Health & Addiction

Mental health issues – in particular opioid addiction and suicide – are impacting construction workers at alarming rates. Rates of both opioid use and suicides have risen dramatically throughout the US over the past several years, and studies have shown that these are areas of particular concern for the construction industry.[1], [2]

Click here to find information and resources about opioid deaths, prevention, and pain management alternatives.

Click here to find resources to help organizations and individuals understand suicide prevention, start a conversation, and play a role in supporting friends, co-workers and family members. If you or someone you know needs immediate help, please use the lifeline information on the right-hand side of this page.

CPWR also has a Toolbox Talk on workplace stress available in English and Spanish:

Hazard Resource Page Example: Work Zone Safety

The Work Zone Safety page was developed in support of the NORA Construction Sector Council’s initiative to increase awareness of struck-by hazards and ways to prevent them.  It includes materials developed in support of the Stand-Down and other resources that can be used all year long.
